The Financial Planning Institute (FPI), a SAQA-recognised professional body, is seeking the services of an experienced Content Specialist. Reporting to the marketing manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating, improving and maintaining content, whilst also assisting with internal communications, employee engagement and managing the corresponding schedules.
Internal Communication and Employee Engagement:
Identify effective channels for communication;
Play a lead role in the development and user testing of internal intranet;
Develop content news and updates;
Co-ordination and planning:
Schedule content creation/acquisition in accordance with editorial policy;
Allocate tasks to and manage additional content contributors;
Manage the creation/acquisition of content in accordance with applicable schedules;
Manage costs within agreed budgets;
Develop content aligned to plain language principles;
Writing for media;
Technical product writing;
Writing for direct marketing and campaigns;
Maintenance and evaluation:
Conduct/commission ongoing audience research;
Collect and analyse user feedback;
Make recommendations to the editorial policy;
Update and maintain time-sensitive material;
Archive and backup content;
On-going focus on departmental cost saving or innovation initiatives
Able to adapt to a changing work environment;
Commitment to ongoing learning;
Maintain healthy relationships with all stakeholders;
Champion diversity and inclusion in line with relevant FPI policies.
Grade 12; and
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in copywriting, communications, public relations, or journalism.
Highly Computer literate: MS Office Suite;
Demonstrable expertise in writing and editing web content;
Working knowledge of SEO/SEM best practices, branding, and digital advertising;
Proficient on email and familiar with working within a product workflow system;
Interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with multiple teams, including external vendors;
Excellent time management skills;
Attention to detail;
Ability to work autonomously while prioritizing work assignments;
Experience with blogging, e-books, and other digital content will be preferred.
